The striking capital of Umbria, Perugia was drenched in rain during the visit when I created this composition. The shining wet cobblestones, the imposing medieval buildings and the glorious fountain, Fontana Maggiore, are broken up by people scurrying under colourful umbrellas. The city has a rich past and the legacy of the waves of different civilisations, from the Etruscans to the Romans to the current international student population today, is palpable.
