From my first study in Italy came this painting of the view from a villa where I was working in the town of Trevignano overlooking Lake Bracciano, north of Rome.This composition was the culmination of a decision to minimise what was in front of me to plains of distance and colour contrast, a deliberate departure from my earlier relief abstract landscapes.
