This portrait of Anne Maria Nicholson, National arts reporter ABC Television, is situated at Shelly Beach, Manly, Sydney. My aim was to capture her adventurous spirit, her passion for the ocean, writing and the arts. The viewer on the rock represents her as a member of the local council where she served with other like-minded people who protected and enhanced the built and natural environment. The vivid reds and purples symbolise power and passion.
