The original study for this work was done in an afternoon while visiting the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. As I viewed the works and then glimpsed this vista from the gallery window, my thought was "and this is the greatest masterpiece I have seen in the gallery thus far!" The work aspires to represent the power, money and opulence expressed by the ruling family of the region, The Medici's. The larger of the three separate canvases represents man's co-existence with nature, the middle and smallest canvas represents modern man, and the upper panel for the historical Renaissance beauty that is Florence.The white, high gloss frame was created as a contrast to the endless gilded frames inside the Ufizzi.M
