I am often struck by 'instant compositions', spontaneous moments that I am compelled to capture and manipulate. This composition is almost as I sighted it while having coffee in the evening at the town of Orvieto in Umbria. The narrow medieval streets with the failing light and the early illumination of the street lamps, the distinctive negative shape of the sky and the angular buildings with their blocked-in, gradients of colour add to the almost Magritte-like streetscape.
